The Cordoba 20CM Concert Ukulele is a mid-range ukulele great for beginners and experienced ukulele players alike. Cordoba is a widely respected stringed instrument manufacturer known for their ukuleles and guitars alike.
The focus of our review today is from their “20 Series” of ukuleles, which come in soprano, tenor, concert, and baritone sizes. All of the 20 Series ukuleles have are made from Mahogany with a solid top.
Cordoba 20CM Concert Ukulele Build Quality
The Cordoba 20CM is the concert sized variety of the 20 series. If you’ve handled a lot of ukuleles, one thing you’ll notice about the 20CM right away is that the build quality of it is much higher than cheaper ukuleles you’ll find under $100. Everything about the 20CM feels well constructed and built to last from the tuning gear to the body of the uke.
The body of this ukulele is build from solid mahogany. We’ve actually had this ukulele for around 5 years, and as you can see by the photos it looks brand new. We have had no issues with the CM20, and it still holds a tune excellently.
The metal tuning gear works very smoothly, making it easy to get all the strings tuned accurately. The pearl buttons on the tuning gear are a really nice touch that feel heavy and not like cheap plastic which you’ll see on cheaper ukuleles.
Cordoba 20CM Ukulele Sound
The Cordoba 20CM has 18 frets, and delivers a strong and punchy ukulele sound that’s a pleasure for any type of music you play. The solid mahogany top makes this ukulele noticeably more rich and full sounding compared to cheaper ukuleles. Check out a sound test below –
The strings that come with this ukulele are Aquila Nylgut which are the very top of the line. You wont be needed to replace these strings unless you somehow break one, there’s certainly nothing else you’ll want to switch over to!
Once these strings are broken in, they hold a tune for days and weeks without any issues.
Cordoba 20CM Price/Value
While this ukulele does require a bigger investment upfront than many cheaper ukuleles, you really get a lot of value from that extra money spent. The 20CM is retails for around $160.
Most of that extra money spent versus less expensive ukuleles is going into the construction of the body of the ukulele – using solid mahogany instead of laminate – and using the very best Aquila strings, versus cheaper strings that don’t sound as good.
Cordoba 20CM Concert Ukulele Final Thoughts
